Fitch is Back.
-
It didn’t even take 24 hours for Jon Fitch to go from jobless to being welcomed back into the UFC. On Thursday Nov. 20th reports had surfaced that Fitch had been let go from the Ultimate Fighting Championship for refusing to sign an agreement which would have given the UFC exclusive, life-time rights to his likeness and image on any future video games. Apparently, Fitch wasn’t down with the idea of his mug being plastered all over a video game. Coupled with this was the fact that Fitch was part of the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), a group who’s leadership is not well liked by UFC President Dana White.
Fitch spoke with co-owner of the UFC Lorenzo Fertitta and the two smoothed over their differences and Fitch was re-instated back into the UFC (after signing the video-game agreement, ofcourse). So now, Fitch will remain in the UFC and is expected to fight Akihiro Gono at UFC 94. While it’s great that Fitch gets to keep a hold of his job, the UFC now holds exclusive rights to his likeness for any video game. We are looking forward to seeing Fitch in UFC: 2009, but we we’re kind of hoping to see him in some of his own games …
