Camouflage is the New Skull and Cross Bones
-
For those familiar with the Mixed Martial Arts scene, the presence of a shit-ton of MMA related clothiers is something we have all just come to embrace. From the questionably macabre shirts to the ones you’d actually want to wear, we have all become inundated with the fashion side of the fight scene.
That being said, when someone decides to change things up and not wear the typical fight shirt we all seem to collectively flip our shit. Anyone remember the hysteria over Rashad Evans’ Microsoft T-shirt?
With that, we want to discuss a developing trend that is straight out of the Matt Hughe’s School of Fashion. Camouflage. Now, before we delve deep into the issue of camo we need to clarify. The growth of camo we all are witnessing in combat sports is of the hunting variety, not the combat style. It is important to discriminate between the two as it can seem almost ironic (in a sort of ‘going to battle’ kind of way) for a fighter to wear military style camo. But, when a fighter wears the type of camo you would see at a Monster Truck show; well that’s just something special.
Meet Middleweight Jake Rosholt, an undefeated 6-0 fighter and former Division I Wrestling Champ, who is preparing for his first fight in the UFC as he will be taking on Dan Miller at the February 7th Ultimate Fight Night. Rosholt, along with other fighters, is ushering in the latest and greatest fashion trend in combat sports. In a recent training video, put out by Raw Vegas, we all get a look into Rosholt’s training for his upcoming fight and we get a look at Rosholt’s glorious training gear. Honestly, who else trains in a camo hunting jacket?
If you can get past the random guy gorging himself with pizza, we highly encourage you to check out Rosholt’s training video:
If that doesn’t make you want to root for the guy than maybe the pictures of him with a dead bear will do the the trick. Regardless, we all should be looking forward to Rosholt’s entrance into the UFC and even more so his endorsement of camouflage as the best form of combat apparel.
