Gina vs. Cyborg: Babe Brawl for the Ages

We’ve been waiting patiently (some not so) for the much anticipated matchup between American Gladiator babe Gina Carano and downright scary Brazilian phenom Cris “Cybog” Santos. The latest tentative date is the August Strikeforce card, but we’ve all heard these rumblings before.
It was last October’s Elite XC in South Florida that we saw these two vixens together on the same stage, unfortunately they weren’t dancing together that night. Both women went on to win that night in impressive fashion setting the stage for the obvious showdown. At the press conference afterwards, Cris Cyborg didn’t hesitate in asking for the match-up; and although Gina wasn’t as eager, she didn’t exactly back down either. After the 14 second Kimbo destruction, Carano vs. Cyborg became the most desired fight for the promotion, only to remain as a wet dream when Elite XC crumbled weeks later.
But alas, Strikeforce ended up with most of the Elite XC assets and fighter contracts, so new life has been breathed into the bout. There has been much speculation and many false alarms the past few months but still no date. Cyborg again begged for a shot at Carano after last weekends complete destruction of her latest overmatched opponent Hitomi Akano. It seems as though Santos may want the fight a little more than Gina at this point, as she may have less to lose.

This road may be a little bumpy for our Vegas-bred gladiator beauty. Cyborg is a beast; she could probably beat a few of the top-ten men in her division. You can’t count out Carano though, as this may be just the challenge she needs to take her training seriously. Keep your fingers this fight happens this summer as rumored, it’ll be the babe brawl for the ages.
