Many people in the MMA community believe Anderson “The Spider” Silva is the best pound for pound fighter out there right now, maybe second only to Fedor. So why is his next fight against Thales Leites… in April? I mean, Leites isn’t a push over by any means but we are talking about Anderson Silva here. If the UFC and Dana White believe he is the best of the best then why isn’t he getting one of those prime match-ups that get a true fighters dick hard because of the challenge of an equal opponent? After his last fight where he toyed with Patrick Cote he should be put up against any fighter that wants to fight him, regardless of weight class or affiliation. “Sugar” Rashad Evans? Fedor Emelianenko? Ryu? Somebody is man enough for the job we just need to figure out who…

KO by machete?

Watching UFC 92 last night if one made his or her way through the multiple commercials and pre-fight plugs for My Bloody Valentine 3-D you could enjoy one or two advertisements for the upcoming MMA video game “UFC Undisputed.” Now, this game has been talked about for a long time and honestly all we’ve gotten from it is blue balls and a handful of screenshots showing Forrest Griffin kicking the hell out of Rampage Jackson.

This would have been a much more bad-ass ending than by decision

The projected release date is Spring 2009 but the website for the game doesn’t make any promises and just says 2009.

From early trailers it looks like everyone and their grandma will be in this game. Fighters and non-fighters both, such as Joe Rogan, Mike Goldberg, and the great Bruce Buffer. Everything we have seen so far looks absolutely amazing. The game developers have incorporated realistic fight strategies based on UFC footage and motion capture, and each fighter in the game is given certain grappling techniques they specialize in to use. There’s no health bars, and no HUD so your fighter keeps on going until a sub or KO and a fight can end at any moment just like in a real MMA bout depending on the hit and situation.

The only problem I can foresee is that although the game developer seems to have done a great job so far from the trailers and demo, we must remember that it was made by THQ… the same company that brought us the WCW, WWF, WWE games, an insane amount of ATV racing games, Destroy All Humans, and of course Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island. So.. with that in mind watch the video below of the 2009 trailer that premiered at E3 this year.

Believe it or not, Santos was a HUGE underdog going into this fight but after people saw the accuracy and power at which he was landing punches on Dana White’s UFC 90 blog, the betting line was brought down.

It's time to rock out with your "guitar" out

It’s time to put away those old pots and pans that you used to bang on and annoy your parents with and upgrade to something else that could potentially annoy them even further. The undisputed best drunk party game has finally released the next installment of its series Guitar Hero: World Tour. This time around we get a different perspective by having a full band experience. The wireless drumset is way better than Rock Band’s “simon” rip-off and the new guitar feels better than anything else that’s out on the market right now.

This installment features an 86-song set that reaches from Linkin Park’s “What I’ve done” to Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” and of course the “OMG this blows my mind!” shred-fest “Hot for Teacher” by Van Halen. As the name implies the game is focused on hits from all over the world rather than the more recognizable tunes from Rock Band 2.

By far the most innovative feature this time is the Music Studio, Users can create content now using a suite of recording tools that is similar to the popular Pro Tools. The only problem is that it’s very complicated and robust, something a lot of people will give up after 10 minutes of trying. But for those of you who stick with it, good luck, the lack of lyrics and poor-quality of most user generated content has us skeptical about the whole thing. But hey I’ve been proven wrong before so why not do it again.

Overall the game looks a lot smoother than Guitar Hero III. The character animations are cleaner, the new instruments are more realistic, and the playlist is deep and robust. If you’re a fan of the series you’ve prolly already got it, and if you’ve never played Guitar Hero then we are glad you came out from underneath that rock you’ve been living under.

One of these things don’t belong… or does it? In a recent press conference the UFC announced that it has teamed up with Topps trading cards (the same guys who put bazooka bubble gum with their cards) to publish trading cards for UFC through 2011.

These cards will detail some of the “biggest mixed martial arts moments from the start of the [UFC] brand,” and some will even have little pieces of fighters gloves or parts of the bloody octagon mat. Topps says the cards will start appearing in store shelves in early 2009. This all comes after the announcement that UFC is also creating a line of action figures which should be expected around the 2009 holiday season.(VancouverSun)

Well shit guys, you’ve officially hit it big time and turned this sport of human “cockfighting” into something that thousands of people can spend hundreds of dollars on and call a hobby. I’m really excited for you guys, I am (Now I know what everyone is getting christmas 2009, sorry Grandma). But I wish we could expect them a little sooner than 2009. Who knows, by the time of these cards come out some of these guys may become washed up (Figure 1). As far as the action figures go, The typical MMA fan may be a little old to be still playing with dolls, but I guess it’s alright if your a 10-yr old kid, or a 32-yr old Basement Dweller living in your parents basement (Figure 2).

Lucky for you, our friends over at wrestlingfigs.com gave us some snap-shots of some prototypes to give us an idea of what we can expect. We’ll Make it fun for you guys. If you can, try to guess who each toy is modeled after (don’t cheat by looking at the filename you bastards).

In just a few days Xbox Live will be shutting down for up to 24 hours in preparation for it’s new xbox experience. While this isn’t the official “go live” update with all the new built in avatar features and streamline design. This update will help out so that we it won’t take 40 hours to update your software. So if you have one of those games that you’ve been dying to beat. Or one that doesn’t have multiplayer or require xbox live, now is your time to bust out that bad boy and run through it so you can get back to your Halo matches once the update is finished.
